It takes more time to setup a wired network because of the wires needed to be installed under floors or through walls for a tidy, professional look, this can take time especially if the computers are in different rooms in a building e.g. Upstairs and Downstairs.

The advantages of having a wired network are cost and reliability. The cost is relatively inexpensive but this does depend on the devices required and services that you require to run on the network also. Reliability of wired network extremely good as manufacturers of the above products have been improving these devices for several decades. Cables tend to be the sore point in the network due to companies moving systems about which can cause cables to become loose.

For any wired LAN connected to the Internet, firewall's are the primary security consideration. Wired Ethernet hubs and switches do not support firewall's, however the computers can have products installed on to each computer to solve this problem.
